The 305-room Conrad Los Angeles has opened within the Grand LA, a new residential, shopping and entertainment development in the city's burgeoning downtown neighborhood. The luxury property, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, marks the California debut of Hilton's high-end brand.
Among the hotel's amenities are new food-and-beverage venues from star chef José Andrés, the Conrad Spa Los Angeles, and proximity to the cultural venues in the heart of downtown.
The Andrés-helmed San Laurel, a 10th-floor breakfast and dinner destination with views overlooking the iconic, Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall, offers Spanish specialties with a California touch, incorporating fresh local ingredients. Among the menu highlights are grilled Romaine with Manchego espuma, bone-in Wagyu ribeye and roasted celeriac carpaccio.
Other F&B options from Andrés include Agua Viva, a chic rooftop restaurant with a Latin/Asian fusion menu, signature cocktails and panoramic views of the city; Airlight, a pool-deck bar on the roof; and SED, which celebrates both the desert and the ocean with a menu of popular spirits and seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables.
The stunning lobby features Gehry's undulating ceiling design, floor-to-ceiling windows and an arrival bar made from 11,000-year-old lava that has been polished and glazed. Prominent local artists have works on display throughout the reception and lobby spaces.
The guest rooms are outfitted with wide-planked pale oak floors and natural linen walls, as well as open wardrobes, L-shaped sofas and minibars. The Grand Avenue Suite has a private terrace, a dining room with a six-seat table, a formal living room with a bar, a master bedroom and a bathroom with a walk-in wardrobe.
The property's 7,000-square-foot spa offers a wide range of services providing a deeper wellness experience than a typical hotel spa. Among the amenities are seven treatment rooms, a curated wellness bar with body-care and recovery products, an "enlightenment lounge", an infrared sauna and recovery cabins.
For events, Conrad Los Angeles has 12,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including a 4,800-square-foot ballroom, as well as a 16,000-square-foot rooftop terrace with an expansive pool deck.
