Poised at the foot of the Tibetan Plateau in a remote, ancient forbidden kingdom of Nepal, the new 29-suite Shinta Mani Mustang will bring a new level of luxury to the Himalayas.
Home of Mount Everest and countless other sky-scraping Himalayan peaks, Nepal has long been thought of a mythic, magic land synonymous with high-stakes adventure and dizzying displays of natural beauty, but now there’s a luxe new reason to visit.
In partnership with Kathmandu-based Sherpa Hospitality Group, the new luxury lodge, Shinta Mani Mustang - A Bensley Collection, is slated to open on 1st March 2023, bringing unprecedented (and all-inclusive) luxury into the country.
The first luxury is the location in the northern Nepalese district of Mustang at the foot of Mount Nilgiri. Mustang is bordered by the Tibetan Plateau and is shadowed by some of the tallest peaks in the world, including the snow-dolloped Dhaulagiri (the sixth tallest mountain in Nepal) and Annapurna (the eighth tallest mountain in Nepal). The area is a spiritual destination with Buddhist monasteries dotting the breathtaking landscape, as well as a prime place for outdoor pursuits like trekking, horseback riding, rock climbing, cycling and more.

The hotel will not be lacking in dramatic design with views at every turn; huge fire pits; and artwork by Robert Powell, capturing the intricacies of Nepalese architecture.
A part of the Shinta Mani Hotels collection co-owned by legendary designer Bill Bensley, this will be the first property of the group outside of Cambodia and will feature suites with floor-to-ceiling mountain views; a 60-cover restaurant and bar; and mixed-use activities room. The hotel will also be home to a calming wellness area with hot plunge pool, steam room, sauna, and herbal medicine program curated by an eleventh-generation traditional Tibetan healer.

"This is perhaps one of the most exciting projects we have ever had,” said Bill Bensley via press release. “I have never seen such wildly dramatic landscapes as the mountains and valleys of Mustang, and I am thrilled that Shinta Mani can be the first to introduce this forbidden kingdom to international adventurers.”
