CHARLOTTE, N.C. — You may be taking mom out to brunch or buying her that perfect gift, but one mom is preaching self-care this Mother’s Day.

What You Need To Know

Renee Schreibman is a mom of three and runs her own business, called the Healthy Hustle.

She’s vocal about moms taking the time to take care of themselves, because she says it’s not something that’s always talked about.

“So many people think it’s taboo or they think I don’t have the time,” she said. “I’ve realized that it’s so important for other people to see other people doing it and to normalize that it’s OK for moms to go first sometimes because your kids want to see the best of you and it’s also setting a great example for them that you are taking care of yourself.”

One way she takes care of herself is by going to The Invigory, a holistic wellness studio.

She uses its salt therapy room and infrared sauna.

The Invigory says its salt room provides a relaxing, holistic therapy with Himalayan salt, and its sauna works by using infrared rays to gently heat your body and not the room.

Wrapped in warm rays and breathing in the salty air, Schreibman says both offer her a lot of benefits.

“It’s been really helpful for me to get back on my feet, get going again and feeling my best,” she said. “I love coming in here because I can shut off my mom duties and get a good hour of relaxing.”

The American Psychological Association also recommends self-care and Schreibman says it should always be top of mind.

“Prioritizing self-care not just on Mother’s Day, but every day for us to realize we can’t pour from an empty cup,” she said. “It’s so important to pour into ourselves so we can give back to everyone else.”
