Plans to completely remodel a house, creating the addition of a gym, sauna and steam room, and cinema room have been submitted to the council.
Ejaz Ahmed, of Mansfield Crescent, Brierfield, has submitted plans to Pendle Borough Council asking for permission to carry out the extensive work to the property, in Reedley Drive, Reedley, Burnley.
The application form states a full house remodel is being proposed with works to include a roof lift, side extensions, rear extension, basement extension and landscaping, with the landscaping to include retaining structures.
The development also includes a new garage outbuilding next to the dwelling, with space for two vehicles on the ground floor, and the creation of a cinema room on the first floor.
In the main house, there would be two reception rooms, dining area, kitchen/lounge and study on the ground floor, with four bedrooms on the first floor as well as a balcony to the rear of the building, an open lounge/hallway space and an office room.
The gym, sauna and steam room would be located in the basement of the main building.
Lancashire County Council’s Highways department stated they had no objections to the plans but have recommended the following: “The Gym/Sauna hereby permitted shall be used solely for domestic purposes incidental and ancillary to the enjoyment of the existing dwelling, Reedley Drive.
“They shall not be used as a separate dwelling or for any other purpose whatsoever for the reason of protecting the residential amenities of the site and neighbourhood.”
Residents are free to comment on the proposals until the consultation period ends today, after which the application will go to the council’s planning department where a decision to approve or refuse will be made.
